Buying a Garden Room? Here is what you need to consider?

When thinking of investing in a Garden Room for your family, work life or just yourself, there is a lot of research and thought to go into the project. The post is designed to help you understand each of the processes involved along the way.

Why are you thinking about getting a Garden Room. Is it for work or play? Maybe it is for both purposes. Either way some subjects to consider are:

Location and access:

Generally Speaking a Garden Room is located at the rear of a Home. One of the most important factors is access to your garden for such a big structure, especially in an urban location.

What we usually do at Gorestown Garden Rooms is use our lorry with a Hi-Ab Crane built into it This will allow us to get close to the rear of the Garden in order to lift the Garden Room over a fence and lower it onto its already prepared foundation base. Sometimes it is just not that easy. In a city or town environment, streets can be narrow and houses very close together. Access to the rear of the Garden is sometimes just not possible.

This is when we need to hire in a specialist, heavy duty crane, which is often required to lift a Garden Office directly over the top of the the house where its new home is going to be. It is not ideal and can be expensive as insurance is a factor also.

Thankfully most houses do not require such heavy solutions and our humble Hi-Ab Crane will do the trick.

Garden Room Insulation and Specification

Once you are confident you can get your Garden Room into your back Garden, you need to think about Size and Specifications.

What type of finish do you want? ts it going o be a place of work or leisure. Do you want to have wash facilities and toilet for your Garden Room?

This is a big subject so we want to detail below a Quote spec we sent to a new customer who wanted his Garden Room to be a Work Office and Garden Retreat at the weekend where he and his family can entertain friends. Sewage and Water Drainage. Electricity, Heating

Obviously if you are living in a climate this is, shall we say, a little unforgiving in winter it is important to consider the heating, electricity and sewage if you want to install a toilet and wash facilities.

There is no doubt adding a Garden Room will provide a great added dimension to your lifestyle however as illustrated above, it is vital to give it some serious consideration before you enter and commit to the project. Get it right and you will have a great place to work, rest and play for everyone who lives in your home for many years to come and in all seasons.
